GSS Special General Meeting

The Graduate Student Society now has the opportunity to reorganize itself so that it can better serve the Graduate students of UBC. However, because this involves restructuring to the Society itself, we need as many graduate students as possible to attend the Special General Meeting. This will take place on:

TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2011, 5:30 – 7:30 PM, BALLROOM OF GRADUATE STUDENT CENTRE

At this meeting we will:

• Establish a new “council secretary” position

• Simplify the GSS political structure

• Streamline the GSS business operations

• Change council to a “one department, one vote” system

By approving these changes, without any increase in student fees, you will give the GSS the opportunity to:

• Create business profits that can be returned to students in better service

• Make councillors more accountable to the departments they represent

• Allow better advocacy of the interests of students

Please come to the meeting above in order to express your wishes. Free to all attendees, light refreshments will be served during the meeting and will be followed by a full dinner after the meeting in celebration of the holidays. Your RSVP is not required, but strongly encouraged. Please send an email to office@gss.ubc.ca to notify us of your plans to attend.
